Muker Band Merchandise
Much of the money which allowed the band to replace all the instruments and buy new uniforms has come from the sale of souvenirs. The band made it's first cassette recording in 1988 and was such a huge success that the band went on to make a further five recordings, and two compilation CDs. Then in 1994 the band was approached by a local film-maker who had the idea of producing a video of dales scenes and events accompanied by music from the band's first recording.
With the introduction of these recordings, the band started receiving a lot of orders from abroad, which made them realise that they had a lot of followers who were much further afield than the local surroundings. For this reason it was decided to introduce a friendship scheme where for a small fee, members would receive two newsletters a year. These newsletters give details of upcoming concerts, articles of interest to friends, a crossword competition, discounts on souvenirs etc.
At the time of the band's centenary it was decided that the band's conducter Dr Duncan Bythell, a retired senior lecturer in history at the University of Durham, would produce a history of brass banding in the local dales, concentrating on Muker Band.
All these souvenirs are available to buy. There is an order form here which you can print out and fill in.
